Welcome to London!

Well, here I am! London, England. First time flying alone, check.

I actually love flying. I always get pretty contemplative. There’s just something about looking down on tiny cars and roads, expansive plains, and big fluffy clouds that makes me feel so small, so insignificant… We are so small, yet our God is so big! What a miracle flight is! I mean I know it can be explained by physics and everything but it’s pretty wild.

All my goodbyes were pretty hard. But, although this sounds cheesy, it really made me so thankful for all the amazing people I have in my life! On that subject, I want to stay in touch with everyone but I’ll be getting a new number along with a SIM card. If I don’t text you (over iMessage or Whatsapp), contact me here or on Facebook or something and I’d love to talk!

Unfortunately, as much as I enjoy flying, the 9 hour flight was still pretty lengthy from Dallas to Heathrow. Especially because I. Couldn’t. Fall. Asleep. A man in the row next to me had to be shaken awake by the stewardess five minutes before arrival, while I laid lifeless for five hours trying my hardest to sleep and literally nothing happened.

Also on the flight, there was a map of the route and where the plane was, with speed, altitude, and distance from arrival constantly updated. It seemed pretty advanced to me. I learned, by watching this map, that I should probably brush up on my geography… Even while we were still flying over the US, I was constantly surprised at which cities we were nearby.

Passport control and customs went very smoothly. Now, I’m looking forward to sleeping, dinner, (supper? tea?), but most importantly, going into the city tomorrow!

First on the itinerary for London:

  1. Have tea with the queen; befriend her corgis
  2. Hang out with Daniel Radcliffe and/or Harry Potter
  3. Figure out what a “crumpet” is and probably eat it

Honestly though, I’ll be pleased with anything I get to do in London. Everything where I am now (Harpenden) is even so different from the US; the driving just throws me off, because not only are we on the other side of the road, but also, the signs are different shapes and say different things, the roads are SO narrow, and the intersections have weird little roundabout disks on the street instead of lights. Driving here would be very stressful.

So after tomorrow: expect loads of pictures! Loads of touristy things!

I don’t really know how to do this blog thing yet, so sorry about how disjointed this post was! I hope it was interesting enough to make whoever is even reading want to read again, when I have real, substantial things to say. If no one else is still reading, hi Mom!

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

  1. Wahoooo!! Love this.

P.S.- I wanna know if green tea is much of a thing in England… Ask a couple people for me if you think of it 😉

HAVE FUN! Before you even blink you will be back at home wishing you could still be traveling! (Like me) So get out there and try everything you can! (Okay, most things) ❤

    Praying for you pretty girl!
